It is easy to use the Internet to find public arrest record, as long as you understand the pitfalls.

It would be great if the government built one website where you could go to search all the public records. Unfortunately, they haven't done this yet. Therefore the responsibility for publishing arrest records falls upon the individual law-enforcement agencies, as well state and county government departments.

it's a shame that this is not co-ordinated. What I mean is each police force does things in its own way. Some of them make these arrest records available from their website, while other ones require you to sign up with your e-mail address to get each week's new arrest records. Yet others publish the information as Word files, and other ones publish it as a spreadsheet.

In addition to this, from state to state the agency or government department responsible for publishing public arrest record varies, which means that in some places you will need to search on the web site of the county clerk, in other cases you need to visit the website for the court house, or the local police, or even the websites of the state.

If this is beginning to sound horribly complicated, then I agree with you. You'll be pleased to hear that there is an easier way to find this information. All you need to do is go to a new website which has been made to make this search easy. It gets the information about arrest records from all of the different public records which are available, so all you need to do is type in the search the name of the person you are looking for and it will go through all that data for you and give you the results - as simple as that!
